WHAT Show

Room Three, along with the other year 5-8s of Ohau School, travelled to Waiopehu College to attend their WHAT show. (Waiopehu Has Awesome Talent).
We saw lots of different acts, from acting, to singing, to dancing, to wearable arts. We were thoroughly entertained, and even got to take part in some of the items! You might spot some familiar faces on the stage!
Here are some photos from the show:

Japanese Visit

On Friday 5th August, Ohau School hosted some Japanese visitors.
The year 8s were the hosts for the visitors, and after the school powhiri, took small groups around to each class, where they participated in different Kiwi activities.
The year 7s were in Room Three, representing the senior school. We sang the colours song to the visitors, followed by teaching them the 'concentration game' which they enjoyed as it helped them practise their numbers in English.
We thoroughly enjoyed entertaining our guests, and presented them each with an origami kiwi at the end of each sessions.

Zero Waste

Anna has been in Room Three this week teaching us bout the importance of water. On Monday we looked into the water cycle, and then how water is disposed of (e.g. waste water).
Tuesday saw us look at how we can preserve water in our own homes.
We also did an experiment in which we adding substances to some clean water (which represented the Ohau River) to demonstrate how different natural and man-made materials effect water systems.

Our Future Focus

Room Three have been working hard recently to set ourselves learning goals. Based on our work during the week, and feedback from our peers, we set goals for the following week. These goals are displayed on the classroom wall so everyone can see our goals and encourage us to achieve them.
