Procedural Writing

We have been learning to write procedural texts. Yesterday we made some Lolly Slice in-class, to motivate us in our writing.
In four groups, we made our slices, with some choosing to do logs and others rolling their mixture into balls.
Today, we have been using our experience to write a piece of procedural writing about 'How to make Lolly Slice'.

Room Three Careers

Don't you ever wonder what career you might end up with??
Miss Kirk asked us to think of 3 careers we would like to do and write them on a piece of paper and hand it in so we could discover what our class was interested in. My 3 careers were vet, dairy farmer, and a professional horse rider.
Miss Kirk put in a bright yellow speech bubble ‘Room Three Have BIG dreams!’ and she put it up on the wall with our dream careers displayed. It’s really cool that our teacher wants us to get good grades and get a good career, and this is only the first little baby step.

Visual Pepeha

Room 3 have been working on our pepeha. After presenting these in-class and in assembly, we decided to do self portraits based on our pepeha. These represented our family, our river, our mountain, and our school.

We did this using a white chalk outline on a black piece of paper. Once we did that, we started to add detail (it was hard to do using a piece of chalk) and finally we used pastel to colour it in.
